CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. We're all familiar with the Reebok's equipment, the Pegboard contest, and the Cutting system. But what do we know about the womens' competition? Read on to find out more. Women are competing

This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Jonne Koski and Tia-Clair Toomey Orr won the first event. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.

The field is full of top-level athletes in the women's competition. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. These athletes will be joined by Sara Sigmundsdottir from Iceland, who was awarded the first place medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier in the year.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. Toomey-Orr won 30 of the Games' most events, setting a new record. Sager won Event 11 and became the Games' third winner. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

CrossFit Games athletes train by focusing on ten core physical skills: strength, flexibility and speed. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. The Pegboard was a fierce competition that left the athletes feeling proud of their accomplishments.


Cutting system

The CrossFit Games will once again employ a cutting system for the individual competition. The cuts are not as severe as those used in past Games but they are still very different. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.

This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts occur in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.

Equipment from Reebok

Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They are made to meet multiple fitness needs. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.
